The Comfort of Death

I found this sweetheart in my backyard. He was a brown-headed cow bird, a type of black bird, and he was sick. I took some pictures of him before bringing him inside where it was warm to die peacefully. Poor baby <3

He was placed it my largest shoe box on top of towels still warm from the dryer. He'd been out in the cold, so I bet this was a relief for him. He stayed in my laundry room for about an hour before dying. I dug him a nice, deep grave and sang for him. After burying him, I placed a rose and a soft white rock on top of his resting place.

He was just a bird, but a least something that died today did so a little easier <3
